A Day Trip from Portland to Aurora, Oregon: Antiques, Wine, and Timeless Charm
Aurora, Oregon is a fun excursion from Portland for Antiques
Aurora, Oregon is a delightful day trip from the Portland and is just a short 30-minute drive south. It’s definitely a hidden gem.
Tucked into the Willamette Valley, this small town is home to a surprising number of antique shops and wineries, each with its own distinct character.
Pheasant Run Winery in Aurora, OR
We met up with friends at Pheasant Run Winery, which turned out to be the perfect starting point for a glass of wine. I had the sparkling rosé and honestly could’ve sipped it all day. So good.
Pheasant Run is tucked inside Aurora’s historic bank building, originally built for the 1905 World's Fair. The old vault now serves as their wine cellar!
It turns out the bank once experienced a real robbery—so the wines have names like Bank Vault Reserve, Bank Roll White, and Bank Robber Red. They also have a sweet little garden area with live music in the summer. It all feels casual, a little quirky, and just right for a relaxed afternoon.
The Sparkling Rose was so good! I could drink it all day.
Our friends have spent more time in Aurora so showed us some of their favorite antique shops—we wandered, found a few treasures, and had a great time.
