Lavender season is one of my favorite times of year in the Pacific Northwest. Anyone who knows me knows I love lavender—it's my go-to essential oil and favorite scent around the house. Recently I drove with my mom from Portland, Oregon south to Sausalito, California. The drive took us along the breathtaking Oregon and California coasts and through many small towns, but the moment we entered Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, it felt like stepping into another world.

When we were in Naples for a family event, we made went as a group to the Revs Institute. The Revs Institute is a world-class automotive museum and research center in Naples, Florida, featuring over 100 rare, historically significant vehicles.

There’s a stretch of highway in South Florida called Alligator Alley. It’s really just I‑75, but driving it in winter can be a unique adventure, and potentially a highlight of your trip.

In just a few short hours, we saw more than I ever expected: the Louvre, Notre Dame (we were there for the lunchtime ringing of the bells!), the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, Sacré-Cœur, Montmartre, Moulin Rouge, the Arc de Triomphe, the Panthéon, Shakespeare & Company, and Café de Flore—plus so many charming little corners and quiet streets in between.

Waimea Canyon is often called the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” but that doesn’t quite capture the feeling of standing at its edge. The layers of red and green stretch for miles, carved by time and water.

The Na Pali Coast of Kauai feels almost otherworldly—a stretch of rugged cliffs, emerald valleys, and hidden sea caves. Experiencing it by boat during golden hour was at the top of our Kauai wish list.
